Beautiful Galaxy Donuts with Unicorn Sprinkles

For The Donuts
 1 cup self raising flour
  cup castor sugar
 1 large egg, whisked
  cup buttermilk
 3 tbsp butter, melted and cooled
For the Galaxy Glaze
 1 cup icing sugar
 3 tbsp pouring cream
 food coloring
 pretty sprinkles
For The Donuts

In a bowl sift the flour and add the castor sugar
In a separate bowl, whisk the buttermilk, melted butter and egg
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients , and stir to combine, mixture should be smooth but do not over work the mixture.
Pour the mixture into a piping bag and pipe the mixture into a donut tray
bake at 180 0C for 8-10 minutes.
I used an electric donut maker, which was perfect.
Remove when golden brown and risen, and allow to cool completely before icing.

For The Icing

In a bowl mix the icing sugar with the cream, stir well until completely smooth.
Add a couple of drops of food coloring, i used blue, mauve and pink.
Use a skewer or chopstick and stir gently in a figure of 8 motion to create a galaxy effect.
Swirl the donuts face side down through the icing to cover them with galaxy swirls
Place on a baking tray to allow the excess icing to drip off.
Decorate with edible glitter and sprinkles.
