I’ve been having a few health issues lately and

I’ve been having a few health issues lately and my diet is a major part of the problem.
I just can’t say no to delicious food!
Carbs, cheese and cake , the three things I love and my body absolutely objects to !
Could someone please have a pesto and cheese toasted sandwich for me today?

Remember last week we spoke about using produce to practice your food styling AND as a story opener for your food shoots?
Good!
Because I’ve got a great example for you.
Today I will be publishing a blog post on 3 ways to use Parsley.
This is the story opener.
There are 2 reasons for styling dm image like this example;
1. It provides context.
And clearly indicates what the reader can expect from the story.
And.
2. It’s visually interesting.
Instead of launching into a bunch of recipes an interesting visual will be the starting point of your storytelling plus, it’s a great way to practice composition
.

Do 3 things :
Yes I know it sounds basic, and I know you know this.
I did too.
Until I didn’t.

Last week I had to remind myself of this.
I had to go back to all my coaching notes, everything I mentor others on and give myself the same advice I give you.
Overwhelmed and completely frustrated I blamed social media for my anxiety, inertia and other 2020 emotions. When in fact I had let slip all the principals I speak, coach and teach;
Boundaries.
Progress over perfection.
Grace.
.
So today’s take away is - write down only three things that need to get done today. If need-be do a brain dump first, get it all out your head and on paper and then circle / highlight three things that you can do today.
Do those 3 things, and only those.
Then do the same tomorrow.
And the next day.
Don’t try do them all today, just 3!

For accountability and transparency here are my three things.
- write a blog post.
- Finish packing away winter clothes.( 🙈)
- Type up shot list for shoot tomorrow.

Eggs all day; Breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner!

My family are fans.
Especially for a quick Sunday supper.

Tonight is scrambled egg on sourdough with freshly picked garden greens .
I use Bill Grangers recipe and it is creamy perfect 👌🏻

Bills Scrambled Eggs
(Bills Tip : If you need to prepare more than two portions, cook them in different batches to avoid crowing the pan)
Per person:
2 eggs
1/3 cup fresh cream
a pinch of salt
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
.
1. Place eggs, cream, and salt in a bowl and whisk together. Melt the butter in a non-stick frying pan over high heat, taking care not to burn the butter. Pour in egg mixture and cook for 20 seconds, or until gently set around the edge. Stir the eggs with a wooden spoon, gently bringing the egg mixture on the outside of the pan to the centre. The idea is to fold the eggs rather than to scramble them.

2. Leave to cook for 20 seconds longer and repeat the folding process. When the eggs are just set, turn out onto a plate and serve with hot sourdough toast.

Toss garden greens with a little olive oil and a squeeze of lemon juice, serve with savoury granola for breakfast, lunch or dinner

I’ve been watching The Home Edit on Netflix.
I’m an idealist, but seriously, I don’t see my cupboard or anything else other than these recipe books going to be colour arranged, as pretty as it looks, and boy do I love a theme, LOVE.A.THEME.

Today I did a shoot for @joyaredsa not knowing it

Today I did a shoot for @joyaredsa not knowing it was #nationalappleday ( but I think it’s only in the UK / anyone ? 🤷🏼‍♀️) and I said “ I love apples “ and I’m not exaggerating when I say I literally eat an apple a day / and not just in pie or cake 😉 my favorite ( other than cake) is thinly sliced apple with a sprinkling of salt, sometimes with cottage cheese and some times peanut butter.
What’s your fav way to eat an apple ?

In need of inspiration?
Open your fridge, spice drawer or pantry.
Take a trip to the farmers market / organic store.
Practising food styling starts with getting confident styling everyday items. The best way to do that is to look around you.
The reason I encourage this is because editorial content ( magazines, blogs and online publications) often require an opening shot. This is called an opener (obvs) and very often it is the raw ingredient, or product, it establishes what the rest of the story or recipe will be about.
Learning to set the scene to tell your food story is an important part of food styling. Using everyday items is the easiest way to practice.
